super bowl
we didn't really do anything too exciting for the super bowl (i actually opted to switch channels for downton abbey in the middle). the kids caught on that it was something special, but weren't exactly sure about what made it special. i figured that out during this exchange between madelyn and mason:
Mason: What's the Super Bowl?
Madelyn: I think it's where the team that loses doesn't get to play next season or something.
Later, I saw that Madelyn was riding both sides of the game on her backpack!
while they were celebrating with the lombardi trophy on the field, i remembered that we saw it it person before it was shipped off to arizona. love.
"where'd my hands go?"
manning got silly while we were watching the first half of the super bowl - and then they all got in on it because i was making a video. and because it was fun. i did teach them the consequence of pulling their arms out of their sleeves - they were defenseless to tickling! love.
reading girls
madelyn and i both had personal bests for reading this month. she read 2,436 minutes in january! and i completed 13 novels - actually reading 6 books and listening to 7. i don't know that i can always keep this pace (we have been home more because of winter and work has been a little light so i have had more free time than normal). madelyn even invites me to curl up and read with her at night and i take her up on it when i can. i really love that we can share this.
daddy and me
every time someone asked about his haircut while we were at church this morning, maddux would proudly tell them that he looks like daddy. he really loves his daddy - and his new hair. love.

hair like daddy
ninjas ready for spring
the boys decided that they were ready to wear shorts again. if they can layer short-sleeves over long-sleeves, why not layer shorts over pants? right? mom loves to do laundry so why not double up? maddux told me that he was wearing two pairs of underwear too. just shaking my head. love.
