everyone was pretty tired after our late night out, but we still managed to get up and out for the opening of a christian bookstore for "kids' day". we had gone last year and had fun so decided to go again. and then we got there... there was a line with over 100 people! last year there were like 10-20 when we got there at the same time. apparently there was more advertising this year. the difference was that it was a christian bookstore and everyone was civil and considerate even though it was crowded.
we waited about 20 minutes just to get into the building, but i didn't think that it was too bad once we were inside. i did wish that we had not brought the stroller though. the moby would have been much, much easier.
first stop was face painting. madelyn asked for a red and pink butterfly and mason selected the rainbow. maddux was just having fun hiding behind a sign with another little boy (a friend from mops). i love that madelyn is supervising the work in the picture.
the kids were still pretty scared of the characters. madelyn was the only one who would get close enough for a picture but she didn't want to raise her eyes off the ground.
the kids really enjoyed the reptile show. the lady doing the show was wonderful - high energy, easy to understand and she shared how God had made each one special. the kids sat still the entire show except when given a chance to touch. madelyn was super protective and told the lady every time one of her brothers missed out when the reptile came by. mason's favorite were the snakes - one was only five weeks old.
they were premiering the new veggietales movie and it had a special price. there were some other coupons for the event that made it worthwhile to wait in the 45 minute check-out line. matt took the kids to wait in the van while manning and i waited in the line.it was a very different experience than last year, but still worth it and the kids really liked it. love.

Fun! Madelyn's arms around her brothers and making sure they got to touch everything --- so sweet!!!
