more firsts

last night when we were heading to dinner, manning started clapping!  we have been working on this one and i was pretty thankful that i was sitting in the back with the kids and was able to see it.  he had a more difficult time reenacting it for me in the high chair when i went to get video of his first time using a sippy cup.  enjoy!  love.

maddux started clapping today!  i knew that he would be doing it soon and today was the day.  he even makes a pretty good 'clapping' sound which i don't remember the other kids doing right away.  he wouldn't let me take video, but he did do it several times with squeals of joy.  love.

today was a pretty productive workday for me and i got a lot done around the house before matt got home from work too, which is funny because both kids were a crying mess most of the afternoon. madelyn appeared to just be tired and mason was suffering through teething, but they played nicely together anyway.

mason is really starting to get good at the shape sorter. i help him with turning it to the correct side and occasionally showing him which 'hole' his piece went in. he doesn't usually get as frustrated as he does in this video, but i was was trying to capture his little clap for himself after he gets each piece in. he is so focused and has figured out varying the pressure applied right away. i love how mason thinks about everything he does.

and since madelyn was so noisy during mason's video i thought that i should show what she was doing. she has 'swing burn' under both arms from doing this almost all day for the past few days, but it doesn't slow her down at all. love.

yea for mason

mason started clapping yesterday in the car when he was laughing at his own reflection. it kind of surprised me because he makes a pretty loud 'clap' sound for such little hands. unfortunately, i didn't have the camera. then he did it again when i went to pick up mason, but i didn't have the camera again!

after a few tries today i was able to get him clapping in his highchair.

isn't he cute? he really claps well considering that he did it for the first time yesterday.

while i was making dinner he was rocking on all fours and sort of bunny hopping forward with his knees without moving his hands. i ran to get the camera because i thought that he might actually crawl. when i came around the corner he was just sitting himself up and started smiling and clapping like "yea me!" (i didn't get the camera on in time to share). it was really, really cute.

the picture is of him working on his golf grip for the first time while i was working yesterday. daddy was very impressed. love.

sound of the day

today's sound of the day is...brooom. all-day-long.

she also claps her hands really well now. real, open-palmed, sound making clapping. she also does it every (some) time we say "yea"! or just for her own amusement. or when we go to get her out of her crib. actually, she does it a lot now. she was more interested in her toys than clapping, but you get the idea. i also like how she gets herself all excited and starts choking on the spit she sucked down.

lastly, i have another laughing video. for some reason she just thinks that it is hysterical for us to flip her toys at her like that. love.
