last day of school ice cream dinner

the kids and i have been shopping and planning for one of their highlights of the year - last day of school ice cream dinner! we very, very rarely have dessert (or have sugar) so this is really something special. look at these faces.

the kids were so excited to load up their bowls, but then took two bites and asked for something else for dinner. all of that sugar was more appealing in theory. love them.

fish fry

one of matt's co-workers hosts an annual "fish fry." they catch and prepare enough fish for 100+ people and then everyone brings a side or dessert. the kids had mixed opinions about the fish and hush puppies, but they could all agree on the cupcakes - yum!

it is such a nice thing to do and she did a wonderful job of making everyone feel welcome with introductions all around. we were also loaded down with extra fish and hush puppies to take home. or as manning called it, "chicken." love.
