the forecast called for temperatures to be around 70 with sunny skies which can only mean one thing - shorts! but when we went to the bus stop with madelyn it was in the low 40s and i was reconsidering my decision to let them wear shorts and then when we got to the preschool most of the kids were wearing heavy coats. oops?
nope. i went to the ymca and when i went to pick the boys up you were fine in short sleeves and shorts. it had turned into a gorgeous day! the boys have been a little out of sort for the past week so i planned to spend the whole day outside (i had even warned matt that there wasn't going to be much done at home today). i was originally going to go to the zoo but then decided to let the boys pick a park - or two.
they were beyond excited to get to the first park. i was excited to go to a park without a stroller for the first time since manning was able to fit in my moby wrap (long since donated). mason and maddux ran ahead of manning and i to start playing. mason was a little nervous about the fireman's pole - it had been a while after all...
the boys ran into a 'friend' from the ymca child care and they started running up and down the hill together. |
mason was pretty excited to get to the top of the climbing wall. |
our little adventurer. he climbed up, but couldn't get back down. |
when the boys started to get hungry and thirsty we decided to drive over to a different park (we had snacks and water on the way over). there aren't as many photos from the second park because it is very large and i have to focus on watching the kids - who were having so much fun.
this park has several large 'xylophones' around the structures and maddux started busting out his favorite tune. mason joined in for the video.
it was time to go home for madelyn's bus, but that didn't bring us inside. the boys had more fun with their water guns, chalk, bubbles, water table, etc. the wind had really picked up over the day and literally blew manning over at one point! even with the wind, it was glorious to be outside.
madelyn made mason a rocket ship when she got home. |
we finally came in because we needed to get a little dinner before the kids headed off to swimming lessons with daddy and i headed off to the pto meeting (where i was elected secretary). we were outside so much that i got a little sunburn on my shoulder/neck! someone at the pto meeting asked if i had gone somewhere warm over spring break. such a wonderful break from the snow and cold! bring on the spring! love.

A glorious day, indeed! I cannot wait until all five are independent to go to parks... and the beach... no strollers - ah!
They look very happy to be outside running around. Love all the pictures. I especially love the one where Maddux has his feet on 2 different swings :) and where they are singing to their music. Bet Manning loves being older and joining a little more into the action.
