we were delighted to learn that daddy took his birthday off from work so that he could spend it with us! the three bigs had school, but we had a nice morning at home first (we get up kind of early around here). the kids even talked daddy into opening his presents from them before they left for school.
as always, it was hard to get one good picture so just look at the best parts of these two...
we saw madelyn off to the bus, dropped the big boys off at preschool and then i took matt (and manning) out to my favorite breakfast place. matt finally understood why i always want to go there! after breakfast we came home to clean because papa and nana were arriving before dinner for thanksgiving weekend. daddy couldn't get the day totally off.
once papa and nana arrived we took matt out to his favorite restaurant - chipotle! we were very happy that the weather held off long enough for papa and nana to get here, but it was starting to get pretty bad out when we headed to dinner - we were going to have a "white" thanksgiving.
per matt's request, we had ice-cream pumpkin pie after dinner for his birthday. thanksgiving dinner is matt's favorite meal. unfortunately, his birthday can be way too close to thanksgiving for me to make the complete dinner twice so he settles for the pie.

it wasn't the most exciting day, but i think matt enjoyed himself and having a little down time. plus, he didn't have to shave on a weekday! love.
