four snow pants

madelyn has missed playing in the last two snowfalls and i could not put her off one more.  i did have to go pick up another set of snow pants so that we could outfit all four kids.  we almost managed to stay outside as long as it took me to get everyone dressed!  the snow was still falling but it wasn't super windy or cold, so sort of perfect for playing.  unfortunately, manning absolutely refused to wear gloves/mittens and his hands got too cold.  he didn't want to go in though.  instead he was just shaking his hands, screaming and running away from me (because i was trying to pick him up and bring him inside).  mason was asking to go in too.  i was just really happy that we were able to let madelyn play in the snow for a bit.  she has been so disappointed to miss out on the fun.
manning was wishing for warmer weather fun.
the kids were trying to throw snowballs at each other so manning started just pinching up some snow to throw and laughing wildly.  he was quite happy to play outside.

madelyn was most definitely the most excited to be out in the snow (and in her new hat made by nana!).

maddux' first snow angel.
mason wasn't having very much fun.  more on that in the next post.  love.

Fun!!! I can see Knox being like Manning - stubborn about the mittens.

Looks like fun! Mason does look like he isn't feeling his best in the pictures. Manning looked like he enjoyed picking up the snow with his bare hands. Maybe suggest Madelyn roll the hat up to make a cuff(?). Nana

I guess I'm lucky that my kids were raised in So Ca (long ago b/f so much congestion). I rarely had to mess with the cold dress up - just for a few mtn visits & trips to Papa & Nana. My mom always talked about getting us all ready to go outside. We had a big floor heating register and I can still see all the wet snow clothes on it. We did a lot of ice skating when we were older with a lake in front of us -- depth of ice always checked by out neighbor, Bill, who was a conservation officer.
