madelyn and i got talked into an impulse buy at the grocery store yesterday - a new year's pretzel. they were giving samples and it was a pretty tasty pastry for $3. (a lady behind us in line commented that she was suckered into one too.)
madelyn and i were discussing it on the way home. i told her that i wasn't sure the significance of the new year's pretzel but that it might be something like a king cake (which it tasted very similar to when we tried it), maybe good luck or something. i suggested she research it when we got home.
and she did!
this morning she read us an informative presentation on the new year's pretzel before we enjoyed it this morning. (and it was so super yummy as we waited for the parade to start and i made our real breakfast.)
