pajama party

madelyn and i were off to a pajama party for moms and daughters at church (as a kick-off for mid-week after the holidays). i wanted a picture of us in our pjs but the littles wanted to join in too.  why not? mason was really excited to get to be the one to take the picture.

the boys stayed home with daddy - which worked out them more than daddy.

on the way to church, madelyn started worrying that no one else would be wearing jammies. i tried to assure her, and me, that other people would be wearing their pajamas to the 'party'. i will say that very few adults (including the leaders) were wearing pajamas, but the girls were in full jammie mode. it was a little bit of a free for all. they had rooms set up with different themes - craft, snack, games, nail art, etc.
first we decorated placemats for a local soup kitchen. madelyn drew a goldfish in a bowl. they also had conversation topics and questions for us while we colored.

then we did a few blinded out nails.

we ran into a friend and spent a while playing games. this castle logic/puzzle game was a big hit and i also discovered that madelyn is excellent at charades! like crazy good at acting out and guessing.  i was very impressed and plan on picking up a kids version very soon.
while it wasn't my favorite event we have gone to together, it was really great quality time with madelyn. we had some great conversations and i really enjoyed our time together. love.

How great of your church to host the event. One on one time (or any number less than all) is so precious.
