it's a boys' world

we stopped by a park this afternoon (because it was gorgeous out!) and i was struck by how it was almost entirely boys there. i think there were around 14 kids and only 3 of them were girls. mason and maddux quickly assembled a pack of boys to play "super heroes" and part of the game was to run to the "bat mobile" and race off. as i watched them all pile into and on the car, i was hoping i wasn't getting a glimpse at 10 years from now!

while we were at the park, mason was playing with some boys who started using questionable language - "poop-head," "butt-face," etc. mason just asked them if they needed to go to the bathroom (because they were using 'potty' words). it was everything i could do not to laugh. and when they still didn't stop, he told them that he didn't want to play with them when they were talking like that because it wasn't nice and just walked away. i was so proud of how he handled it! he is such a confident kid and wasn't phased in the slightest by the encounter. the other boys were a little surprised, i think, and quickly followed to ask if they could play with him again. love.
