freebie saturday fun

we haven't gone to a building event in a while but birdhouses were tempting enough to get us out. they are so crowded normally, that we got there early in hopes of getting three spots next to each other (manning is still sitting these out but i did look back and see that mason built his first project at manning's age). we were shocked to find that we were the only ones there and were given permission to get started! lowes is usually very strict about everyone waiting to start together at 10am. we were very appreciative of this more relaxed approach.

daddy and i helped mason and maddux while madelyn did most of hers on her own.

manning wasn't happy about being left out (he has started a strong-willed, we hope, phase this week). we might let him participate next time.

i love maddux' concentration.
maddux was the first one with a completed birdhouse.

after lowes, we made our way over to target for a dr. seuss reading event. we have attended one of these twice before. the kids love it because they get to do something unexpected at target and are usually given 'goodie' bags with snacks - today's bag had cheese-its, fruit snacks, a juice box, bookmark and pencil. there were also lots of coloring and activity sheets for the kids to do there - including making a lorax mustache.

maddux colored everything orange - of course.

mason was able to try on their cat in the hat hat and was quite pleased.
there were also books being read and to read. the kids read three or four, some we hadn't seen before (which is saying something). love.
