we took the kids to the dentist in the morning (which went fine by the way) and within a few hours of dropping madelyn off i got a call from the school. they prefaced the call with "madelyn is fine, but.." apparently she was at recess and ate it pretty hard in the mulch and scratched up her face - of course! the nurse explained that they cleaned her off (apparently she was completely covered in mulch - like in a how-is-that-possible kind of way) put some ice on the scrapes on her face and then madelyn asked to go back to class. when she got home it was still pretty red and slightly swollen (this picture is from just before bed where you can see how she has a light scratch - just below her fading black eye). oh this kid... love.
