madelyn's acting debut

this fall madelyn has been taking "stage acting" in an arts program at a local church. we were pretty impressed with the classes (although madelyn wasn't always a fan of the homework) and were looking forward to see her final performance. sunday night she had dress rehearsals and that what when i learned that it was on a big stage with a lot of other acts! rehearsal lasted close to 2 hours - and we left before they were all finished!

so we weren't too sure how long the actual event would go tonight. i packed water and snacks for the boys just in case. and boy did we need them! we were planning on having dinner after the show since madelyn had to be there at 5:30 and doesn't get off the bus until after 4. she had just enough time to finish her homework and change. but what we didn't know was that we wouldn't be done until 8pm! yikes!

it was a bigger crowd than i was expecting but madelyn said that she wasn't nervous at all.

we took some pictures while waiting for the show to start (mason can not handle the flash on the camera and manning was getting grumpy).

madelyn's group went towards the middle of the line-up (there was no program so you just had to wait and see).
getting into place on the dark stage.
and here is their skit - madelyn is on the far left of the frame wearing a black top with a jean skirt and white leggings and "limps" (a bonus part because someone left the class after parts were assigned).

thrilled to keep her balloon

madelyn and her teacher
the skit by the older kids' stage acting class actually made me cry. there were no words but they were acting out how Jesus loves us and life choices/sins/temptations get between us and take our attention away from Him. but then the things that beat us down are held back by Him and he takes away our sins (a black shirt that gets ripped away). this was madelyn's favorite from dress rehearsal.

so proud of our little actress! love.

Impressive. That's a big crowd and there was a lot of movement on that stage. I think I heard the boys clapping after her part - so cute.
