haircuts

the first thing madelyn asked when she woke up today was, "am i getting my hair cut today?"  she hates having to brush or fix her hair and has been looking forward to getting her hair cut for months - since about may.  while i was getting her ready for pictures this morning she said, happily, "this is the last time i will ever have to brush my hair!"  i told her that she would still have to brush her hair, but it wouldn't get so many tangles after her cut.

the boys were first.  matt took care of buzzing their hair off.  i was so torn because i love their hair on them, but seeing how soaked they were on the fourth of july convinced me that less hair was the way to go for the summer.  and, after all, it is just hair!

maddux did great for the bulk of the haircut.  it was just when we were trying to get the clean-up trimming around his ears that he decided that he was done and started to cry.  he looks so much more like matt with the shorter do!  it was funny because madelyn was really sad to see his curls go, almost as sad as i was.  the boys hair needs a little trimming and clean-up later, but the job is done.
three happy kids with their summer dos.  i took madelyn up to great clips so that she could donate her hair to locks of love.  she gave 11 inches.  it isn't the best cut and i am going to have to fix it at some point, but madelyn could not love it more.  i actually forgot the camera when we left and was so bummed.  madelyn was absolutely beaming with excitement the entire time!  she loves, loves, loves her shorter hair and claims that she wants to keep it short instead of letting it grow back.  we will see.
and one more of maddux just to show that he was really happy with the new cut.  i knew that it would make him look older, but it seems to have made him look bigger too!
we will most likely let the boys' hair grow back out and crop them back again next summer.  love.

Great, great pictures of the haircuts. I loved Mason's blond bangs and Maddux's curls but it will grow back and I think they will love the short hair for the hot summer. So cute. Maddie looks older too. Love, Nana

Love the new dos! Before you mentioned it, I was going to comment on how much like Matt Maddux looks. My girls love their shorter hair, too. We're headed back this week for a trim - need to use a groupon that's about to expire.
