the first day of preschool

the boys remembered that madelyn was able to pick what she wanted for breakfast on her first day of school and they wanted to do the same - but they didn't want the same thing. mason wanted peanut butter chocolate chip pancakes and maddux wanted banana chocolate chip muffins. mommy would have to get up pretty early to make that happen! but then maddux came around to the idea of pancakes - whew! (mason is wearing a new transformers tank top we found on clearance yesterday. it is a few sizes too big and he was happy to let it serve as pajamas.)
preschool starts too late for daddy to go with us to drop them off, but he was able to arrange things so that he could eat breakfast with us which was a special treat on a weekday.
all our boys!

loved manning's smile

madelyn jumped in for one too.
we said good-bye to daddy, put madelyn on the bus and then made our way over to the school. (i have failed to mention this before, but mason essentially taught himself to tie his shoes a few weeks ago and it has been wonderful! he even double knots them! i think he does almost a better job than madelyn.) the boys decided that they should use their backpacks this year (i am thrilled because there are always more papers at the end of the day than i can carry!).
the boys heading into the school.

mason in front of his hook (the flash on this camera always makes him close his eyes).

mason going into pre-k!

maddux is the third one to be in this room.
while the big boys were in school, manning and i ran a few quick errands. i didn't even ask him to get a basket. he just picked it up and carried everything we needed for me. manning was also very chatty as we went about our morning. i think he really likes getting to have me all to himself!

their first days were successes! there was some rain so only maddux' class was able to play outside. it sounds like the highlight of the morning was getting to see the baby bunnies that must have a home next to the playground. they can't wait to go back on thursday! love.

Big boys going to school and helping mom - sounds like a great place to be - for everyone. You're so good to get up to make special breakfast(s) I would have been thinking of how to make them ahead of time.

Such a cute picture of Manning with the basket! Bet he loved his special time with you and being a big helper. So glad the boys have a great, loving, Christian school. Reminds me a little of the one Matt went to...Hope they have a great year!
