while the boys and i were playing out in the puddles, i got a phone call from madelyn's principal. at first i thought that it had something to do with the pto (i am working on improving communication within the pto and other parents). but then he said, "first let me say that madelyn is okay." now i was holding my breath. "...but there was an incident in art today." now i was just waiting to hear what end of the "incident" she had been on.
apparently, one of her classmates hauled off and punched her in the arm for no reason whatsoever. the principal assured me that madelyn was fine. she had gotten some ice, the boy came and apologized (after spending some time with the principal and missing a recess) and she forgave him. he just wanted me to know what happened and how it was handled in case she ended up with a large bruise on her arm.
i wasn't all that upset (because, hey, she has gotten worse in our own home from her brothers) and i figure that we might be on the other side of an "incident" in the next few years. but i was quite relieved when she was perfectly fine when she got off the bus and didn't seem upset about what had happened in the slightest. and there was not visible mark on her arm - not even a little red.
we will see if she bruises over time but i am going to write this off as no real harm done. love.

Yep, those things will happen! Glad she is okay :) Nana
Sounds like the school handles incidents well. And that Madelyn had a forgiving heart. So sweet.
