a delightful turn of events

i am not sure why, but madelyn's soccer practice was cancelled for tonight and it allowed us to have a lovely meal at home together (instead of frenzied shifts at the exchange of the kids who are staying home vs. going when matt walks through the door).  it is hard not having a free night during the week.

it was a lovely fall day and i suggested that we take a walk to feed the ducks after dinner.  we had to hurry a bit since it is already getting dark pretty early around here.

sadly, the ducks were not to be found.  so we fed the fish in the pond with our old bread and had some fun in the leaves instead!  for some reason i only got clear pictures of mason with the leaves but i know that we will try to take more before they are all gone.

i don't know what i will do when we really start to have busy evenings!  enjoying the free ones while we can.  love.
