freebie saturday

i love a free activity (don't we all?) and we spend a lot of saturday mornings running around to participate. we started out at chick-fil-a for a free 3-piece mini breakfast. then we went over to lowe's (it was actually the right day this time) and made a basketball game.

this about sums up how mason feels about having to wear the safety goggles.

we finally got him to wear this for a few moments.  the safety goggles are the major down side to building projects at lowe's.  while i am sure that it is good for their liability, it is a contstant battle to get the kids to keep them on.

mason was actually able to drive most of the nails in by himself.  i would just get them in the pre-drilled holes and he took care of the hammering.  i was pretty impressed, but not surprised.
after lowe's it was on to michaels to make "yarn dolls".  each kid got to draw on a face and then were helped with the hair, arms, and getting started on wrapping the 'clothes'.  i helped mason draw on his face (by turning the head so he could add each feature) and madelyn wanted hers to have "rainbow cheeks".  the employee practically made mason's entire doll because he wandered off and then left with daddy because of a poopie diaper.  i appologized for him being a bit too young for this craft, but it was going to be better if he had one too so that he wouldn't take madelyn's.  i think that they came out pretty cute.  we might make more for the doll house later.

to continue with our 'free' day, i had packed a lunch for us to eat at the zoo (free admission with our zoo pass).  it turned into a really sunny day for the zoo and the kids had fun showing daddy all of the animals.  love.

The dolls are adorable. Mason looks so old using that hammer. Quite impressive!

That's the way to work it!!! I still need to check into that for our Michael's. Saturdays are hard, though.
