madelyn's favorite day of school was finally here - the day she is the snack friend. at this school you get a whole week and not just one day when you are the "snack friend." the "snack friend" gets to supply the snack and fills a large container (like a pretzel container) with items from home that fit the color/shape theme for the month. march is green and diamond. there wasn't a lot around the house that was diamond shaped. we did take the diamond from the shape sorter and packed up some green blocks that can be shaped into a diamond. i guess madelyn tells the class about all of the items in the container.
i always feel pressure about packing a 'healthy' snack. today i sent cucumber slices and celery pieces with green cream cheese (food coloring) and instructions to arrange them on plates i supplied in the shape of a four-leaf clover. wednesday i am just sending peanut butter cracker sandwiches with raisins.
madelyn wanted to wear her hair in a cinderella/belle bun for her special day, but her hair isn't long enough for a last minute bun. instead i negotiated two smaller buns instead. she was quite delighted about them and told me that she wanted to wear her hair like that again when i picked her up from school today.
i love how happy she is about her time at school when i pick her up each day. she comes bounding down the sidewalk and jumps into the car with a "i had the best day! " or "school was so much fun today!". mason looks forward to seeing her too. instead of "madelyn", he calls her "sis" or "sister". it is a nice happy spot in our day. love.

I freak out trying to supply one day every so often - I can't imagine a week! Lorelai loves being snack person, too.
That's a great idea. Man, you really stepped it up with your snacks, too!
