elementary school trunk or treat

madelyn's school and the 3rd - 5th grade school put on a joint trunk or treat tonight.  we had some fairly good snow/sleet late in the afternoon so i was a little worried about the weather, but it cleared out and other than being very cold, it was a nice night.  the kids are wearing as many layers as i could fit under their costumes because no one wanted to cover theirs with a coat.

in all of the chaos of leaving, i managed to leave manning's coat at home.  thankfully, i keep blankets in the car for such an occasion.  i don't think he was a fan of the cold and barely moved the whole time - other than to put his thumb in his mouth.
there actually weren't a lot of decorated cars, but there were a few cute ones.
once we hit all of the cars, we walked over to check out some of the pumpkin games.  first was bowling...

maddux needed a little bit of help with the bowling so there isn't a video, but i did get some of his golf technique - he is after mason.

and, of course, they had to check out their haul before they could get ready for bed!  when you consider that they got one piece from each car, they did really well!

maddux would go through each bowl and look for an orange candy.  he got an amazing amount of "orange" and he could not have been happier!
most of manning's haul came from maddux' thoughtfulness.  every now and then he would get a piece "for manning".  i had thought that manning would want to walk so i brought his pumpkin.  and as stated, he did not want to move.
mason is quite the orderly guy.  he sorted and stacked all of his candies.
they can't wait to go back next year!  matt had an event for the charity where he serves on the board, so he missed out (although i don't think that he was terribly disappointed).  the kids were more than happy to show him all of their "treats" when he got home.  love.

I love the idea of Trunk or treat. My neighbor says you should send pictures of all the trunks so she can get ideas.
Those are some cute kids having lots of fun!

I love that you have that front porch step for pictures... through the years.
