fire safety day

the boys have been counting down to "fire truck" day for almost two weeks now.  mason was so excited that he squeezed into the only fire truck shirt we have that had already been passed down to maddux.

both boys loved checking out the fire truck at school and even got to spray the hose.  maddux made this cool fire truck snack to enjoy at home.

when i picked them up, one of mason's teachers said that he was really tired and almost fell asleep in chapel.  that seemed odd because while he has been staying up late to 'read', he had gone to bed on time last night. when he came out he did look pretty beat and when i touched him he was burning up.  ugh.  and i had just invited someone to join us at the zoo tomorrow. oh well.

i took his temperature when we got home - 102 - and he said that his whole mouth hurt.  a little medicine and a nap seemed to perk him up enough to eat lunch.  his temperature never got below 100, with or without medicine, but it never got over 104 either.  his discomfort did increase with time and he said that his whole body hurt.  he was in such rough shape that we called madelyn out of soccer practice since matt was going to have to take all of the kids tonight because i had a pto meeting (i was on the agenda and couldn't skip it).

poor guy.  i have really been praying that this year the illnesses are fewer than last year.  love.
