health update

for some reason, we always seem to end up going to the doctor for "sick visits" on a friday.  today i took in maddux and manning.  manning was up all. night. long. coughing.  maddux had his own coughing interruptions and really all four kids were up most of the night.  and, of course, mommy.

i had been considering calling in about maddux because he had finished his antibiotics on wednesday and just didn't seem any better.  in fact, he seemed a bit worse - other than his fever did not come back. since manning was coughing, and then crying, literally all night, i thought it was worth getting him checked out too.

our appointment was at 2:30pm so i sent maddux off to school and ran a few errands with manning. everyone was a little on edge getting ready to leave due to exhaustion and manning threw himself down in the parking lot because i was passing by the carts in the lot that he apparently wanted right then.  fun times.

we ran another errand on the way to the doctor's office because i was taking a dinner to a new mops member who had her first baby last week.  but we should have pleanty of time.

yeah, "should".  we ended up being at the doctor's office for almost two hours, with an hour of that being in the waiting room.  i did not have water for the big boys and no snacks.  rookie mistake.  i will say that considering how exhausted and hungry the boys were, they all behaved remarkable well.  we were running into missing madelyn's bus and then they lost the order for x-rays, so that added some more time.  ugh.  yep, that is right.  maddux's pneumonia did not respond at all to the antibiotics so the doctor wanted to get a chest x-ray before continuing treatment - just to make sure that what she was hearing was really what was going on inside.

because God was looking out for me, matt sent me a text that he had come home early and would meet madelyn's bus.  that was a huge relief because i can't call just anyone to meet the bus, the driver won't let her off the bus unless it is someone the driver knows belongs to the child.  matt very, very rarely comes home early so this was the perfect day.

i still had to race home to finish prepping the dinner to drop off and was feeling very happy about buying some frozen pizzas as a back up plan for our family.  matt even offered to take maddux to get the x-rays while i took care of dropping off the food.  and then i found out that the family i was taking food to live about 13 miles from us!  in traffic it took me an hour to drop off the food.  i don't know how i would have done it all if matt had not come home early.  you have to remember too that i had only had about 2 hours of sleep last night.  i was just "doing" there was very, very little "thinking" happening.

maddux' x-ray came back just as the doctor had expected (the same as what she had heard in office) and he will start another round of a different antibiotic.  we will follow-up with her at the end of this one to see how he sounds.

so happy to have a fairly quiet weekend!  love.
