madelyn completed the school's summer reading program and today they had a party for everyone who had done all of the reading - ice cream, prizes, etc. and madelyn was the only one from her class who was able to attend! she was pretty excited. one of her prizes was a package of "rubber loops" or as is the 'fad' here - "rainbow loom". we had to watch a youtube video about how to make the bracelets to get her going but she quickly figured it out once i did the first two to get her started.
i hear moms complaining about these a lot at the ymca during swimming lessons and a little one facebook. but so far, she only needs me to make the first 'knot' for her and she is off. the perfect activity for the rainy day forecast for tomorrow.

Those are super-popular here, too. We've not bought one yet as the interest ebbs and wanes. I think it looks like a perfect solo creative project. Jon is actually working on making a homemade 'loom'

I think I heard about these on the news b/c a school has banned them for being to distracting for students during class. Looks like fun though.
