easter egg hunt brunch

this morning our bible study had a breakfast social with an easter egg hunt. it was like torcher to smell all of those breakfast foods without being able to eat! (we were waiting for everyone to arrive before praying.) we let the kids have a little something before we left the house because they had already been awake for so long. i had also baked four dozen muffins this morning to bring and manning didn't understand why he couldn't just eat those.

there were all manners of yummy breakfast foods - including home made maple syrup! (they were even kind enough to send us home with a jar!) here are some pictures of the kids with their full plates (i don't know what was up with the over exposure, but mason's expression was worth posting.)

madelyn has been practicing for a dance at church on palm sunday and had practice this morning. it was convenient to have both activities at the same location, but it wasn't ideal to have them at the same time. madelyn and i had to leave early and she got to be the first one to hunt for eggs. each kid was able to find a bag of eggs instead of hunting for individual eggs. all the kids cared about was the eggs, not the finding. it seemed to have suited everyone just fine.

i came back to get a picture of the boys after i dropped off madelyn.

once the party was over, the boys came into watch the rest of madelyn's practice. they were restless and went to sit in the back of the house. the boys really liked having the full run of the sanctuary. although they were a little disruptive at times.

once we were home, madelyn and mason came up with a way to turn them into a necklace after eating all of the treats (there were also coins in one of the eggs).

now the two bigs are outside playing baseball with daddy. it might not be warm, but the sun is shining after two long rainy days! love.

Interesting idea- to hunt for a bag. Your church has lots of great events for the family :)
