preschool easter parties

when i signed up to help hide eggs for both boys' preschool classes i had not realized that madelyn did not have school on thursday. i was already bringing manning so what harm would one more do? we quickly hid the eggs in maddux' classroom while they were at chapel (the ground was too muddy for an outside egg hunt) so we joined them in chapel until it was time to go hide the eggs for mason's class. i took a picture in chapel because madelyn (long hair and grey fleece in the center, back), mason (red shirt to her right) and maddux (orange and blue striped shirt just to mason's right) were sitting in a row diagonally and i could see them all at once. if i hadn't thought that manning would scream if i stood up, i would have included him in the picture because he was in the same diagonal line right beside me.

towards the end of chapel we went to help in mason's room. but the teacher's aid had her children with her (also off from school) and they had already hidden them all. so back to chapel we went to walk with the kids back to maddux' class. madelyn was very popular.
they have a very orderly egg hunt. all of the kids sit in their spot at the table and they go get one egg and then come back, count the number they have in their 'basket' before going to get one more. they repeated this until each child had six eggs. the kids loved it.

next we played a parachute game with empty plastic eggs to 'bounce' off. that one was a little crazy but the kids sure loved it!

maddux' class didn't have any other parent volunteers so we ended up only staying with his class for the party and missed out on mason's. but mason didn't mind at all - he is just the best that way.

since madelyn always misses out on the zoo, we headed there after a quick lunch at home. again, just glorious to go without a stroller!

all of the kids agreed that this was the perfect picture of maddux.
all four kids fell asleep on the way home. matt had golf and we had a couple of free pizzas from papa john's to redeem this week so i ordered them before we left the zoo and picked them up on the way home. we ate dinner at 4:30 in the afternoon, but we were all starving so it worked out great and then we were able to play outside until it was bedtime. a long, fun day for us all! love.

What a fun day! Great that Madelyn could tag along and be helpful, too.
