enjoying the outdoors

it was a little warmer than i was expecting today so after getting madelyn on the bus, the boys and i went for a walk/ride around the neighborhood. it was nice to see signs of spring - neighbors were out, the fountains in the ponds had been turned back on and there were ducks, geese and birds all over. manning was really, really enjoying our walk.

we came home to have some lunch and then the boys decided to finish up in the sunshine on the back deck. they had books and puzzles and the rest of the bowl of cut apples on their 'picnic' blanket. the bigs were literally laying on the deck soaking up the sun. it has been a really long time.

while we were waiting for madelyn's bus outside, maddux was rolling the hoola-hoop and chasing it. i guess one time it got close to the fence because at some later time he realized that his arm hurt. when he showed it to me i realized that he had at least 30 super small splinters in his wrist! he had a few in his palm and in his finger too. i had never seen so many splinters in someone.

i did my best to remove as many as possible before cleaning him up with some peroxide followed by some neosporin and band-aids. hopefully, that will do the trick.

madelyn had a visit from "cosi on wheels" for a fun-filled chemistry day at school (this is a program from the children's museum in columbus that we have visited twice). she got off the bus with these awesome paper glasses she had made and a lot to tell us. and that was great because we were off to ride in the car for a bit.

her school was having a fundraiser at a local restaurant so the plan was to pick up dinner for our family and meet matt at church. this restaurant does not have a drive-through and the idea of 'running in' with the four of them at dinner time could have gone either way. i am happy to report that they were excellent and the service was super fast (way faster than past visits). it could not have been any easier or less stressful. and then it was off for a full evening at church.

manning was asleep before we got on the interstate afterwards and he slept straight through until morning. he was a tired boy after all that sunshine and fresh air on such a long day. i really can't say how thankful i am for springtime! love.

Oh my goodness - that's a lot of splinters - good for him 'letting' you take them out. That would have been a major battle here. Lots of fussing about them, but not wanting me to remove them.

So cute to see them out on the deck. I guess we are all excited for spring! Nana
