we haven't done this in four years, but the kids have been so taken with the paper chains at the ymca that i thought we would make them again. if nothing else, it might fill an hour or so while i prepared dinner! they did a really great job - even manning could do this on his own. they were trying to make chains as tall as they are and then madelyn connected all of their pieces (which manning was not consulted on and violently objected). we didn't quite get enough to wrap around the tree, but we had enough to decorate the front side. i really need to think to do this more often! i have a friend who uses them to help with visualizing a "countdown" (to vacations, birthdays, etc.). you have to love some simple (and inexpensive) fun! love.
