it has been a long time since we have gone to union station. it is such a pretty building. and so many fun things to see and do! our main attraction today was science city which was free for us with our museum pass.
this was a neat magnetic table with metal pieces a la wooly willy. |
this ufo was at the top of a slide. |
landing a spaceship |
launching a rocket |
the kids enjoyed testing out all of the optical illusions.
the hands-on energy exhibit was pretty fun too.
we weren't done so we took a lunch break at the kids' favorite place - "the train restaurant" - fritz'.
look at how excited mason is for our food to arrive. |
maddux had told his preschool class about the restaurant before we left for our trip and his teacher asked for a video. this is the one we made for him to share when we get home.
we went back to science city and madelyn got back in line for the highwire bike. we were in line before lunch but madelyn had to go to the bathroom after waiting for about 45 minutes but before it was her turn (there were only two kids in front of her). now we were in line behind a field trip which meant two kids would join the line, one would leave and then three more would come back. it. took. forever. i think an hour and a half.
waiting |
and finally she had her turn to ride! madelyn is getting quite brave.
our kids love a water table and this one was pretty cool.
the science experiment was cornstarch mixed with water. it is a liquid but can be broken as a solid if you squeeze it. we are totally going to use this over the summer!
when we left, i asked that we swing back by ikea for some hedgehogs on our way home. i had seen them during our visit yesterday. our preschool curriculum at church has a hedgehog mascot and i thought it might be nice to have one for each classroom. it did feel weird to have a huge pile of hedgehogs as my purchase.
every night there is much discussion about who is sleeping where. when we couldn't figure out a combination that would work, they all got into matt and my bed to make everyone happy. they were exhausted. love.
