"crooked" hair and other updates

mason's hair is generally a mess in the morning and after naps. it seems like he must rub his forehead back and forth the whole time he is sleeping face down.  madelyn has named it "crooked" hair.  as in, "mom, brush mason's hair too because it is a little bit crooked".

once i wet a comb and run it through the mess, it will look pretty good for the rest of the day.  i like mason's floppy hair, but it is time for a cut.  i know this because i am starting to get the urge to put in a clip or pull it back in a ponytail.  matt wants to just buzz it off at home but i think i want to wait on that until the summer.  we'll see.  something needs to be done - and soon.

besides his hair, mason has had a lot going on.  he still doesn't 'talk', but he communicates pretty clearly and is definitely making more of an effort to speak.  here are some new 'words' that matt and i can both make out: "truck" (he points them out everywhere), "penis" (his favorite body part besides his belly button - he goes back and forth between the two during diaper changes), "cheese" (this one is a little odd because we don't say it when we take pictures - i think it came from madelyn's talking ariel camera - but he says it when he holds anything up to his face like a camera).

he "ooos and ahhhs" over christmas lights like madelyn, loves santa, and seems pretty excited about christmas in general.  his favorite character seems to be junior from veggietales, but he can identify all of the shows he has seen when we see characters at the toy store/department.

we could get a folding
table for the apartment.

mason loves to clean.  he has always been (and still is) a much, much neater eater than madelyn.  this week he even reminded me to push his sleeves up before he started eating.  he is also practicing all sorts of "big" activities like clearing his plate after meals and wiping himself and the table off.  he gets really, really mad if you try to help him so we just watch him try to find a spot on the counter near the sink where he can set his plate and cup.  he also went through the diaper bag to find a diaper for maddux (size two and not mason's size 6) and wipes this week.  he brought them over to the swing where maddux was starting to fuss and sure enough maddux had a dirty diaper.  mason will come to get us when he has a dirty diaper too.  i am actually considering potty training before he turns two.

he tries to count like madelyn too.  he points and makes noises, but the only number he can say/do right now is one.  and he holds up his pointer finger very proudly.

"um...he went in the box house.  that's what i want to write about.   in the house box," said madelyn while i was writing this post.  that will come in another post.

other than that mason still loves his brother and sister with lots of hugs and kisses.  love.

Mason is quite the kid. Love how he is so neat with his eating and how he loves cleaning. Hopefully he will keep that as he grows. Crazy hair seems to run in our family! It's obvious that he loves his Big sister and Little Brother.

Kinley showed interest in PT around 18 months and I almost wish I had gone with it... there was a lot going on then. Now I'm planning to give it a try after the holidays. :)
