packing up a lunch is a lot of work for just eating as soon as we can get to the cafe (where the tables are) so today i decided to go after lunch (another gorgeous, sunny, cooler day!). i think that this might be the first time we have ever gone to the zoo two days in a row and they were our longest trips ever (5 and 4 hours). today was really less about seeing the animals and more about playing. although we did see the "animal show" for the first time.
the "animal show" was sold out yesterday at 12:30 so we hustled to the back of the zoo today to try and get tickets for the 2pm show before it sold out too. we got the last few! i should have known that is wasn't going to go so well as soon as they said that i couldn't bring the stroller in. okay. i just carried maddux and held mason's hand as we ended up getting to be some of the last people to find seats. but then there was still quite a wait before the show started - maybe 15 minutes. that was a long time to try and keep three small children on the bench and from crying. madelyn was crying because she couldn't see the show and i kept explaining that it hadn't started yet. mason was on my other side and he kept wandering around or trying to climb up on top of me. i had to keep telling him that i couldn't hold him right now because i had to hold maddux - who did not want to be held. maddux was essentially barrel rolling in my arms so i needed both of them to keep from dropping him. i tried to let him stand holding on to the bench, but the lady next to me kept giving me a look when he would get too close to her. and then the show finally started!
it was one of those blink-and-you-will-miss-it type of tricks and they only did each one once, but the 'trainers' were mildly funny. i think we will wait a while (as in years) before i take the kids on my own again. madelyn really enjoyed it
but we did have lots of other fun! here are some more pictures of our second outing. love.

the "chooch" runs right next to the little farmland maze |

doesn't mason look so grown up? he was so excited to check out everything the tractor had to offer. |
|
again, they weren't that willing to share for a picture. |

a little peek into the 'frontier' play houses. |

mason was willing to hold madelyn's hand - unlike yesterday. |

Get that boy a John Deere! You could probably use one with all the land at the new house. Get him started young. It surprises me that they won't be in pictures together. yay for another zoo day... and yes, I did think three in a row was about a third trip to the zoo.
i think that mason is just becoming unwilling to share his 'moment' as the star. they play together great, but the picture setting is totally different - at least when i am behind the camera.
