fall soccer

i wasn't going to post about soccer this week but then decided that i had something to say, so here you go...

the games didn't overlap at all, which was nice because matt and i could both watch the games, but that meant that we were at the field for three hours.  and manning was not in the mood to be there when we got there at 9am (see picture to the left).  he didn't want to be held, he didn't want to be down and then when he get down happily he would just run out onto the field.  i was exhausted by the time we were done and i am sure no one was sad to see us take our screaming boy home.

madelyn running to defend her goal.
it is a good thing that i have long legs because everybody wants to sit on mommy!
madelyn throwing in the ball.
look at that 'big' goalie back there!  she did such a great job and was very proud that she didn't let the other team score at all during her quarter as goalie!  i saw her stop three attempts to score.  she did a really great job and was much more aggressive in the goal than she is on the field.
manning was a little happier when we let him check out the playground between games.
apparently, i didn't take any pictures of mason's game and i need to take video next time.  picture smiling and hair flapping in the wind while he runs.  he LOVES being on the field in his uniform.  his team is a very dominating team.  lots of boys and we think that they must all be kindergartners - maybe 5 or 6 years old.  mason is not aggressive at all on the field.  he tries hard but he is having too much fun running after the ball to worry about stealing it from anyone else.  but he will be in this league for at least two more years - it will change i am sure.  there was a mercy rule for the other team after mason's team had close to 10 goals - and i think the other team scored three of them for us!

the best part was that every time mason did manage to kick the ball he would run over to where i was to ask me if i had seen him!  i had to remind him that the game was still going on and he needed to pay attention.  such a sweet and silly boy.  like i said, he was just so happy to be there.

it was nice to be bundled up instead of sweating, but if it rains, we will have to watch madelyn out in the cold rain.  pray for dry weather!  love.
