the boys are currently passed out on the couch - notice how maddux didn't even make it up onto the couch before he fell asleep! so i thought that i would give a quick update on this and that with my few extra minutes of quiet...
- we found one soccer sock. and, thankfully, it is the mate to the one sock of mason's we already had! it was found inside a toy tool box. you know, because that is naturally the best place to put a dirty sock. there is still another missing pair and it is making me crazy! i have looked in every drawer, every container and every possible nook and cranny but cannot find them. i am starting to think that they were put into the diaper pail and thrown out because they are just no where to be found. he seriously wore each pair once before they disappeared. i didn't even get a chance to loose them in the dryer.
- the first week of preschool has been a success. they boys really only comment on their snacks and playing on the playground. there is no hesitation about going and they are happy to see me, and each other, when i pick them up. manning even walked over to maddux to give him a hug when we picked him up on friday! it was just too sweet. and it was the first time he had ever walked to give anyone a hug.
- manning decided that he is a walker last week. he has a new look of determination about walking on his face and he tries to walk more than crawling now. we are getting so close to not always needing a stroller or carrying!
- i had totally forgotten how much there is to keep track of during the school year. i know that it is busier but i forgot that i had to plan out the sequence to each day and not just what i need to get done. and of course i keep on volunteering for things!
- i am loaded - mops (crafts, newsletter, table leader, etc.), pto (i am working with the president on putting together a communication plan - my idea), church - small group, sunday school 2/3-year old leaders, book club, etc. and work is picking up dramatically again (from one hour a week over the summer to close to 10). i am getting better about saying "no" now and then too, but i need to be more realistic about my availability and allowing some time to sleep on occasion!
- the boys are still all over the place with sleeping through the night. manning always does, mason and maddux not so much. it is mainly maddux. mason is just a super early riser. it is the interrupted sleep that wears on me more than the early mornings. i try to get up an hour before the kids so that i can shower, on non-gym days, do my bible study and some other things but that is impossible when they are sleeping on the floor of our room. it is only a season. i know that it will pass but it is challenging right now.
well, manning is the one who is up now (of course he would get up two hours earlier than normal on the single day his brothers are both sleeping). love.
