movie in the park - despicable me 2

we weren't going to go to "movie in the park" this time because i had never seen despicable me 2 before and wasn't sure that it was age appropriate. plus, the kids have never seen despicable me. a friend brought up that they were going and that the movie was really good so i checked it out on pluggedin.com and decided that we were in. we have never made it to the end of the movie anyway and it was a gorgeous night. we could at least go and enjoy the evening outside and some activities.

this time they gave everyone a punch card so that you could do the craft and get snacks once. we started out with making a "minion hat". the kids really enjoyed making them, manning really loved his and immediately wore it except for the funny pictures below where he appears to be contemplating it.

the art museum was making three dimensional cardboard shapes with the kids. the boys thought it was really neat to get to help. and the shapes kept getting bigger and bigger.

the face painter was awesome! and, more importantly, fast!

manning has been our only child who doesn't really like swings or slides. until this month! he has suddenly decided that slides and swings are awesome.

they kept the largest shape open so that the kids could take turns going inside. they called it "a giant soccer ball."

amazingly, we stayed for the entire movie! we left around 11pm! maddux was the only one to fall asleep and he laid down on top of daddy to do it.

the only bummer was that the pizza never showed up. mason kept asking for it every 15 minutes or so. other than that, a total success and a throughly enjoyable evening! love.
