matt really, really needed a day off, so he took one. and he picked a great one - hot and sunny! it has been the first day in months that we could both sleep in - so we did. i had picked up a box of marshmallow cereal, of the likes the kids never eat for breakfast, at the grocery store a few weeks ago. just in case.
last night, i told the kids the rules for the morning - don't wake up each other, don't wake up mom and dad, don't fight, play downstairs and they could watch a movie. oh, and they could eat their special cereal. while i heard them wake up, matt and i were able to sleep and doze until 9am! it was heavenly.
once we were out of bed, we got everyone dressed and headed out to pick up a pair of coffees at starbucks. it is about a mile and a half each way on the trail behind our house. we love it! daddy even sprung for some smoothie/milkshakes at the health food restaurant next door (another love of ours).
we were home just in time for lunch and then made our way over to the pool where we relaxed and swam.
now daddy is off to golf. i think his day has been pretty perfect. i know that i enjoyed it throughly! love.

Sounds like a glorious day. I LOVE when Jon takes random days off in the middle of the week to do something fun/relaxing, or even productive, with the kiddos and I. Hope it rejuvenated Matt, too.
