maddux 4-month check-up

yesterday maddux had his 4-month check-up.  we dropped madelyn off at school early and mason and i then took maddux to the doctor's office.  mason could not have been better behaved.  it is almost like he behaves better when madelyn is not around...

but back to maddux.  it should be no surprise to anyone, but maddux is big.  here are his stats:

height - 28.15 inches
weight - 17lbs. 6.233 oz.
head - 17.13 inches

they don't really tell me the percentile information at this doctors' office, but, as with many things, there is an app for that.  according to the growth charts in the app, his height is in the 100th percentile (so was his 2 month height) and his weight was in the 85th percentile.  i was a little concerned about his weight because he has been waking up so much to eat at night to eat and seemed to be really slimming out, but the doctor wasn't worried at all.  as long as he is gaining weight, he is getting enough to eat.  (by the way, i am very confident that it is not related to my milk supply - i will spare the details.)

to put his weight into context, he weighs exactly what mason weighed at his 4-month check-up, but maddux is an inch taller!  he is just a long, lean kid.  but a happy and healthy kid and that is what is most important.

i think that our kids keep getting more and more ticklish.  maddux will belly laugh when tickled anywhere on his body.  he also seems to be the most giggly of the kids in general too.  he has really found his voice in the past week.  here is just a sampling of his 'talking' from today:

he has a great smile and i love that he just has the one tooth.  it just makes me smile to see his one tooth sticking out - sort of cartoon baby style.  the other two got their second tooth within a week of the first so this is the first time we have had a lone tooth grin (see the top picture).  while he was giving the silent scream during his shots, i was able to see that the second tooth is going to be here soon.  i could see it, but just can't feel it quite yet.

maddux continues to be a very, very happy boy.  he eats solids twice a day now and slept for 8 hours last night for the first time in more than three weeks!  (if only i had gone to bed earlier... but i got about 5 hours for the first time in more than three weeks.)

he is still wearing size 3 diapers, but at the rate he is blowing them out i probably need to move him up to a size 4 (he sleeps in a size 4 now). he is wearing a size 12 month sleeper in the pictures and is generally wearing a size 9 months.  we aren't all that sure where mason's size 12 -18 month clothes are in storage so i am going to have to do a little shopping - which is fine since mason wore these sizes during the winter.  somehow we do have the pants and pajamas at the apartment, just not the shirts.

maddux really enjoys his exersauser/bouncer and is getting the hang of the bouncing part of it.  i am so glad because it wasn't all that cheap and takes up a lot of room in the apartment.

mason has figured out how to get maddux to hold on to his toys now, so there has been lots and lots of sharing - sometimes more than maddux can handle.  i have been removing any small pieces from rotation whenever the kids aren't looking in preparation for the day when maddux starts to crawl (he is already starting to pull one knee up when on his belly) since we don't have any furniture or storage to use for putting away the toys right now.

even considering how exhausted he makes me, we couldn't be happier to know maddux and have him as a part of our family.  love.

My little guy Gabriel is doing this same thing (waking in the night). He gets so distracted during his daytime feedings and then seems to want to make up for it at night. His twin brother has been sleeping through for a month and a half, it will be a glorious day when Gabriel gets the hang of it!!

I just love the videos and he is so cute with his talking. You can tell he is teething up a storm. His facial expressions are so sweet and I love his voice! Can't wait to see them all!

He looks so happy :) And so big in the swing. We have the same one and I'm pretty sure my kids' feet weren't hanging over the edge for quite some time. Yay for Mason being a good boy while you were at the appointment. :)
