mickey mouse clubhouse party

madelyn woke up at 3:30am to tell us that she had thrown up in her bed.  a few hours later she threw up in our bed...  it was going to be a long day and nana was arriving later that morning.

i had signed the kids up for a free mickey mouse clubhouse party at the local library.  i had no idea what to expect but mason is really into mickey mouse right now so i figured it was worth checking out.  madelyn was devastated that she couldn't go.  she told me that she's "not sick, just throwing up".  that made it just that much harder to leave her at home while we went.  since daddy was going to stay home with madelyn, the boys and i would be picking up nana at the airport.  but first the party...

it didn't occur to me until we got there that i should have left maddux at home with daddy too since he wasn't old enough for the party.  it worked out fine that he participated too.  first there was a mickey mouse clubhouse book read and then they turned on music for the kids to listen to while visiting the different stations set up around the room.
mason didn't quite get the 'throw' part of the ring toss and was a little slow.
mason and maddux both enjoyed the play-doh station.  mason was happy to have blue and maddux was happy to do anything.  i have just started to let him use the play-doh at home since he is getting better about not putting everything in his mouth.  he did have some trouble keeping the rolling pin out though...

the 'snack' was a chocolate cupcake.  as i heard one parent say, "nothing like cake at 10 in the morning".  mason was nice enough to share a few bites of cake with maddux.
the event only lasted 30 minutes and each kid left with a piece of sidewalk chalk in a ziplock back with either a paper mickey or minnie mouse head stapled to it and the craft (a mickey mouse clubhouse party plate that they could tape streamers to - the effect was a kite).  i think we will try future events.  apparently this one was so popular that they scheduled a second one with just the wait list and there were still enough people for a third party but the room wasn't available.  i would guess that there were between 20 and 30 kids and their parents.  it was a little crowded but nothing stressful.  and mason loved it.  love.
