happy fourth of july!

matt headed out this morning to get back to painting.  the kids and i made him a lunch and drove down after eating ours at the apartment.  our plan was to enjoy some time in the pool to cool off for a little while and see how daddy was doing.  we had talked about staying for fireworks, but there was no way that we could keep the kids busy until dark.  so no fireworks as a family this year (matt and i watched some from the apartment last night around 10). 

we had fun at the pool.  while there were a lot of people there, we were the only ones in the kiddie pool and had it to ourselves.  the whole family got in - well mason just circled the pool the entire time.  i think he was scared from our last time.  it is so weird because last year i couldn't keep him out of the pool and he was almost scary with how little fear he had around the water.  by the end he was at least splashing us.

after the pool we played on the play ground for a little bit before walking back to the house.  the kids and i sat on the front porch and ate some cold watermelon.  i am sure the neighbors already think we are crazy. 

the kids and i all changed into red, white and blue outfits but i wasn't able to get any pictures.  oh well.  happy independence day!  love.
