end of the year squirt gun party

one of madelyn's classmates threw an "end of the year" squirt gun party at a local park. (it was a joint party with his younger brother's birthday.) the invite just said to bring squirt guns and a 5 gallon bucket if you had one and that siblings were invited too. somehow i totally missed that you needed to rsvp, so we sort of crashed the party. oops. his mom said that she had several cancel this morning so it wasn't a problem, not that i still didn't feel bad about it.

the party was as straightforward as you might think. there were buckets in the middle of a field and the kids went at it for an hour.

matt got in on the action too.

they took a short break for chips and juice boxes.

maddux was totally able to hang with these 'big kids'. 

and another quick break for mini cupcakes.

i think daddy was having as much fun as the kids. this is one of the reasons i love him so.

manning didn't warm up to the squirt guns until the very end but he still had a great time - especially when he was given a cupcake too.

towards the end they dumped a bag of ice into one of the buckets and the kids thought that was the greatest thing ever! they had some extra squirt guns for anyone who didn't have one. we had stopped by the dollar store to pick up these easy loading ones (the stick one maddux is holding above). they were even so kind as to give all four of our kids goodie bags!

this was a fantastic way to end our super fun saturday. the kids have been asking when they can play squirt guns in our yard. this party was really a huge hit! love.
