tonight i hosted a 'party' for the second time in my life. it isn't really my gig to play hostess, but i was really taken by my first introduction to noonday back in january and wanted to step out to share with others.
noonday collection was born out of a family's effort to adopt a child from uganda. a couple there gave the wife some jewelry to take back to the u.s. and sell as a way to raise money for their adoption. now noonday provides a marketplace for select artisans around the world to earn a living wage (aka fair trade) and build a business. their first couple now employ 300 people and were thanked this past year by the local police force for bringing jobs to their town and reducing crime. they help keep families together and still use their products to help raise funds for adoption.
some of the jewelry is made from melted down 'artillery.' madelyn calls it my "bullet necklace." the stories are all pretty amazing.
and it is some good jewelry too! love.
