the last day of "summer"

tomorrow is madelyn's first day of school, so today we celebrate the last day of summer break. the kids didn't have to give it a second thought - they wanted to go to chuck e. cheese!
so we were there when they opened with our free refill cups and a coupon for tokens.

this was the first time all four kids willingly participated in dancing with chuck e. cheese.

after chuck e. cheese i let madelyn pick out where we would have lunch and we were off to mcdonalds. i was feeling kind and we went across the street to menchie's - much to their delight!

i thought that they were swarming me like bees, but the teen working behind the counter came over to comment on how well behaved the kids were. every time i get a comment like that, i want to pay it forward. it is like a weight lifted. mom's don't get many complements on the jobs they do, there isn't an annual review. compliments go so far.

madelyn also wanted to hit the pool. it was a little cool (low-mid 70s) but we went over anyway. first we used the playground to warm up.

they love playing 'pirate' at the playground.

it was a little cool, but that only left us with the pool to ourselves!

madelyn feels very ready to start school tomorrow and that today was the perfect send off! love.

So true- we don't get many on-the-job compliments, so it does feel amazing when one comes your way.
