conservationist

madelyn has become quite the conservationist around here. she helps us turn off lights and if we turn on the overhead light and the lamp in a room she will turn off the lamp and tell us that we don't need the extra light.

she also has mastered turning on the water when washing her hands where it is only slightly more powerful of a flow than a drip. she will adjust it for a while before she is totally satisfied with the minimal flow. we have always had her turn the water off while scrubbing her hands, but this is a whole new level of conservation.

i don't think that she is something she has learned at school. i really think that she is just taking the things we tell her - "turn off the lights when you leave the room", etc. - and taking them to the extreme. i probably wouldn't have posted about it, but the hand washing cracks us up every time. love.

It's nice to know that Maddie pays attention to what you say and especially that she enjoys doing it.
