madelyn came home with a bag of painted penne noodles and a piece of yarn from church to make a necklace because she didn't have time to make it during sunday school. mason wanted to get in on the fun after lunch so i got him a piece of yarn and broke out some noodle shapes i had purchased a while ago for crafts. mason was the only one willing to model his finished product - madelyn wanted no part of it.
and then the kids went downstairs for a little silly business while daddy mowed the grass. i had them create a 'jumping course'. maddux is a funny little jumper - he doesn't even leave the ground. he does give it a great deal of effort though.
and then i had maddux show how he says "yes" with a nod. he 'nods' his whole body! the video is pretty dark, but i think you can still see what i mean. it always makes us laugh.
once daddy was done mowing the kids got to spend some time out in the yard/garden with daddy. after popsciles (again) and about 15 minutes, daddy asked if i would want to walk up to sonic for a "special drink" (a cream slushie). i wasn't feeling that great but didn't want to miss out on a frozen treat on such a warm day - or at least baby didn't.
i am glad that i went! it was a great walk and the first time madelyn and mason walked up and back without complaining or asking to be carried (it is about a mile and a half each way). it was pretty late in the afternoon when we left, so we went ahead and just ate dinner at sonic so that we (i) wouldn't have to hurry back to get dinner ready. it was a nice way to end a nice weekend. love.
