harvesting dinner

usually matt takes care of all the gardening duties, but the boys and i were on our own this morning to find what we needed for dinner.  on the menu were peas, carrots and red onion (dinner is flounder with a pea and ricotta puree).  i wasn't sure where the red onions were planted but we figured it out.

the boys liked helping me pick all of the peas off the vines (well maddux likes showing me where they were best) and dig out the carrots.  we had fun guessing how big a carrot was going to be before pulling/digging it up.

our finished harvest for tonight
today was so nice after the stretch of really humid/rainy days we have had.  we spent a lot of time outside today while manning was napping.  love.

how awesome that you can put food on the table from your own garden! and that the kids can help with the harvest.
