why? why is it always her face?

when i saw the caller id come up with the name of her elementary school, i just knew that it was going to be about an injury. it was the school's secretary and first she said, "don't be alarmed, she is okay" (i had heard that she gets that out there early). she explained that she had run into something (but that madelyn didn't know what she had run into - very madelyn) and cut her eye.  she explained that it wasn't something that would need stitches and if it was anywhere other than right next to her eye they would have just given her a bandaid and not called.  but since it was her eye and in a location that wouldn't take a bandaid, did i want to come and take a look?

so my dilemma was, do i wake up manning and go take a look at what i was sure was a minor injury or do i just wait until she gets home from school.  the secretary did say that they can't put neosporin on it so she suggested that i come and put a little on it before sending her back to class. i decided that it was fairly close to when we would be leaving to pick mason up from school anyway so we would be there in a few minutes.

manning was not happy about his nap being interrupted and cried the whole time.  and madelyn started crying when she saw me.  she told me that she was fine and wanted to go back to class.  seeing it in person i really didn't think that it was much of a cut but that it should bring a decent shiner (just in time for class pictures next week too i am sure).
i snapped a few pictures to send to matt
madelyn said that she did want a bandaid and the secretary found a special orange one.  madelyn thought it was great because her class color is orange and she had orange in her outfit.  plus, she liked having a bandaid on her face.  and with that she was fine and ready to get back to class.
i laughed a little when the secretary told me on the phone what madelyn had done and i had to explain that madelyn is the queen of facial injuries.  at least this was a fairly minor one.  and doesn't the bandaid make her look tough? maybe it will be intimidating to the other team at soccer tomorrow!  love.

Poor Maddie! I can't even imagine how she did that but it could possibly go away by picture time. If not, she will still be beautiful as usual. Oh the life of a mother of 4!

You know at our school they always did retakes later in the year so that might be an option you could ask about -- although she will look great anyway and it will be a keepsake :)

The picture will be perfectly Madelyn if she has an injury visible in it :) Sounds like the school secretary is very compassionate - how nice she called to speak to you about all this. How big is the school?
