as if chuck e. cheese wasn't enough, we went to toys "r" us next! the idea was to let each kid pick out a small toy from grandma and big pop and for matt and i to browse a little for christmas ideas. it was crazy!! we couldn't believe how many people were there (most likely christmas shopping) in the middle of the afternoon on a friday.
maddux had the most difficult time deciding on what he wanted and every time he would pick something up we would try and get it to the register, but he would change his mind and put it back on the shelf to find something else. we finally got him to make a selection and were able to pay and load up for our next stop - madelyn's pink reward.
we took her for cupcakes! of course everyone got to have a treat too, but this was to celebrate madelyn's achievement. now that the kids were good and sugared up (and a little tired), we took them home so that matt and i could go out to dinner for our anniversary and then go birthday and christmas shopping together (which we would not have been able to do without grandma's visit).
matt and i had a wonderful dinner (which i was very under dressed for in my fleece vest) and then stopped back home to nurse manning before heading back to the craziness at toys "r" us to do most (matt would say "all") of our christmas shopping for the kids.
i was utterly exhausted by the time we got home, but i thoroughly enjoyed my evening out with my husband. my favorite part when we go out alone is that we get to hold each other's hand. love.

Grandmas timing was impeccable (this particular weekend). I'm amazed you had you list together to be able to shop so soon. Love your note about holding Matt's hand:)
