we capped off our celebration of all things maddux with whoopie pies and presents. i went with a pile of whoopie pies instead of a cake or even ice cream. maddux was pleased with it except for when madelyn told him that he had to eat the one the candle had been in - he didn't like the hole.
this was the first time i had ever made these. i think i will do the filling differently next time - it tasted too much like shortening to me, but no one else seemed to mind one bit.
okay, now this just shows how busy we have been and how tired i am. i was just about to say that we cleaned up and once everyone was ready for bed we opened presents. but, no, we opened presents in the morning! mason's shirt is what just made me remember.
either way, we opened presents and maddux (and his siblings) loved everything. luckily for madelyn and mason, maddux was willing to share without being asked.
he is such a blessing to our family (even strong willed as he is some days...) and we love him. how can we resist that smile? love.
