homemade play-dough

today's 'super special surprise' was homemade play-dough. this was a first for all of us and i was only going to make one batch and see how it went, but the kids (read: madelyn) demanded one for each of them. i had just enough supplies to make it happen. the crazy part was that i made all three batches at the exact same time and the consistencies were wildly different! i had to add at least an extra cup of flour to mason's batch! mason had chosen red, but it came out more pink than madelyn's pink. maddux wanted pink too but we talked him into purple instead.

they really just had fun squishing it and got it out off and on all day. madelyn made a nativity set. now, you need to use your imagination but the three lumps in the middle are the wise men on a camel, to the left are sheep, the right is a cow and the stable is in the middle back.
from above you can see baby jesus in the middle and mary and joseph.
of course the nativity is a very popular topic around here and we are doing a bible study on luke so the passion has been renewed.
we should have made playdough a long time ago! love.
