busy friday

the kids and i tried to run errands on thrusday night, but there were storms and our first three stops did not have power!  (madelyn said that thunder was the lightening saying sorry for turning the power off.)  so we tried again this morning.  one of those stops was walmart to pick up some tennis balls.  my idea was that mason (who loves to throw things) and madelyn (who also really needed to get out and run around) could throw and run around in the racket ball court cages.  madelyn was so excited about the prospect and it was a huge hit!  i think that they ran around between the two cages for at least 20 minutes.  it was nice to see them having so much fun and burning so much energy.
the park was pretty wet from all the rain (there was standing water blocking a few of the paths), but the courts and playground were dry enough for fun.

i missed a call from matt while i was loading the kids into the van.  he wanted to know if we could join him for lunch!  it was really great timing.  i even had a bag in the car with water cups, baby food, spoons and everything else we needed to have lunch out (i had packed it up for dinner at the park last night that go rained out).  and even better, we were all dressed and in the car!

we got to see daddy's office this time and the kids enjoyed checking out the hospital.  and now that we know a few of his co-workers we were able to say "hi".  i had the camera this time and was able to get video of the kids watching the perpetual motion display - i really think that they would have watched it all day if we had let them.



but that wasn't the end of our day out!  now it was home for naps and for me to figure out what to bring to the party we had been invited to friday night.  i usually don't wait until the last minute but it had been a very, very busy week and this just wasn't a high priority.  one of the doctors was hosting a game night welcome party for us, but we couldn't get a babysitter (because we don't know any) so the kids came too.  i ended up making chocolate chip cookies because i had all of the ingredients.  the party was nice, but it was a lot of names to learn and i wasn't able to stay with matt and meet people because i was trying to keep an eye on the kids.  we left around 9:30pm because maddux would not fall asleep.  next time we will need to have a sitter so that i can enjoy myself too - and remember his co-workers names! 

whew!  i am exhausted after this week and so glad that we have no plans for the weekend! love.
