uh-oh

and then our happy day changed.  we almost had a trouble-free day.  we made it until bedtime.  and then i heard matt say, "madelyn lane!" in a very unhappy tone while putting them down.

i did not see it happen, but what i got from matt is that she was spinning in circles on the toilet while brushing her teeth.  she lifted the lid off the toilet with her feet and let it drop - crack.  he said that she wanted to close the door to the bathroom so that "mommy wouldn't see".  after they were in bed i took a look in the bathroom on my way to kiss them both good-night.  i told madelyn that i forgave her and loved her.  she told me not to sell all of her toys.  (when she damages something we ask if she has the money to replace it.  when she says that she doesn't then we tell her not to worry that she could just sell some of her toys or do some extra chores - like matching socks - to earn the money to replace it.) 

we haven't decided what her consequence is going to be yet.  she went to bed without books or music, hasn't been allowed to play on the computer or use daddy and mommy's bathroom (we don't want our toilet broken).  we still need to find out how much a replacement is going to cost and most likely won't do anything else.  any suggestions on a consequence or have we done enough?  love.
