if you give a mouse a cookie

this morning we took a fun field trip to a local theater to see "if you give a mouse a cookie".  madelyn's school arranged the trip and the rest of us got to tag along (except for daddy who doesn't have vacation time yet).

since the last field trip's performance only lasted 30 minutes, i was not expecting this one to last an hour.  i mean, the book isn't that long.  it was really a wonderful performance!  all three kids (and all of the other ones there) were thoroughly engaged with everything happening.  maddux was strapped to me in the moby wrap and madelyn and mason had their own seats.  although mason wanted to sit on my lap too.  there wasn't a lot of room for that because i was trying to let maddux' legs hang down but i didn't have enough leg room to move my lap out of his way.

here are pictures of us waiting for the show to start (we had to be there 30 minutes before show time!).

so excited!

not sure what we are waiting for...

pretty girl

madelyn was super smiley too, but she wanted to hide for some reason.
the theater guy was pretty nervous about me having maddux in the theater and suggested that i might want to sit in an end seat.  but i told him that we should be fine - which is what he was afraid of, so he said.  maddux normally just goes to sleep without a peep in the moby, but he had fallen asleep on the ride over which took the sleepy edge off.  he was really into the show until the very end when he was just overtired and uncomfortable sharing my lap with mason and having his legs jammed up.  i was trying to bounce him but mason wouldn't let me.  maddux was a little fussy but several of the theater people said that they didn't even hear him.

i couldn't take pictures during the performance, but here is a shot of the stage.  everything was oversized because the two actors were supposed to be a child and a mouse.  i really can't say how much i (we) enjoyed the show!  it was really, very well done.
mason was a little clingy because he woke up at 2am, stayed awake in our bed until 4am, matt took him back to his bed, mason got bunny-bear and got back into our bed where he slept until around 7:30am.  i was so thankful that he was able to hold it together during the show because i knew that i was taking a risk taking a sleep deprived boy.  he blew me away with how well behaved he was.  he was better behaved than the 4/5 year olds sitting behind us!  love.

This month is full of events. I am so thankful that they do these field trips. I hope that whatever school we find near our new house will have similar events out. And that they let the younger siblings come along.
